Community Foundation's 2017 Grant Cycle Closes

Mississauga, ON – July 10, 2017 – The Community Foundation of Mississauga is pleased to announce that more than $875,000 was granted to 73 charities across Mississauga through the Foundation’s 2017 Granting Round.
“Our donors are deeply committed to our community,” said Anne Marie Peirce, President & CEO of the Community Foundation of Mississauga. “Through our grants, they support a broad array of organizations whose important work impacts our community every day in real and tangible ways”.

The Community Foundation of Mississauga is proud to work with donors from across the city in order to make these important grants to worthy organizations. The funding provided from our generous supporters has allowed the Foundation to grant over $8.4 million dollars to our community since 2001. The grants reach vital, hopeful, essential and creative programs consistent with the Foundation’s mandate. The programs receiving grants this year build community, sustain, teach, promote health, settle newcomers and inspire creativity. From providing shelter and sustenance, health and education, supporting arts and culture and preserving heritage and the environment, the Foundation’s grant monies are put into action by essential charities that contribute to making Mississauga a thriving community.

Mississauga is a brilliant and vibrant community the Foundation is pleased to support organizations like the Art Gallery of Mississauga, Chamber Music Mississauga, and the Mississauga Arts Council as they expand their audiences and benefit the city by providing an artistic and cultural outlet to the community.

Communities in Mississauga are known for providing critically needed programs. This year grants have been provided to community organizations like Our Place Peel, The Mississauga Food Bank, Victim Services Peel and Children’s Aid Society. These exemplary organizations are helping address the gap between rich and poor and helping people out of sometimes desperate situations.

The city is home to the Credit Valley Watershed and many other conservation areas. These places help our community stay “green” and ensure a healthy ecosystem. The Foundation addresses the importance of our environment by providing funding to the Riverwood Conservancy, Credit Valley Conservation Foundation and Ecologos.

Mississauga is also home to many newcomers, who are looking for a place to call home. Mississauga takes pride in ensuring that newcomers find a sense of belonging in the community. This priority is reflected in the granting of the Community Foundation of Mississauga when we support organizations like the Afghan Women’s Organization, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Peel, and Newcomer Centre of Peel. All outstanding organizations helping newcomers, young and old, find comfort and stability in a new place.

The Community Foundation of Mississauga is pleased to be a part of the fabric of Mississauga, the vital funding it provides to the community helps to ensure that Mississauga remains the strong and viable city it is today.
